What's next at Go Long?
Now, the fun begins. Expect many longform projects this offseason.
The 2022- ‘23 NFL season has concluded the only way it should… with one of you going viral for “swiping” the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
There’s a good chance you’ve seen the video of a buzzed Patrick Mahomes handing the hardware off to a fan at the Kansas City Chiefs’ parade. Well, that’d be my former high school football teammate and current Go Long subscriber/Chiefs superfan, Vinnie Garofalo. Excellent work, Vince. (And this is where we should let folks know that this trophy is actually Vinnie’s personal replica, not the real one, and that he owns a Chiefs-backer bar in Buffalo, NY: “Casey’s Black Rock.”)
First, I want to start with another Thank You. Our site is powered by our readers — you make the journalism here possible.
Ecstatic for these next few months. I’ve always viewed this period of time as a golden opportunity to tackle projects and big-picture stories worth your valuable time. The aim is for Go Long to explain the why and how behind everything you see on gameday through humanizing player profiles and penetrating deep dives on teams. Both will be in high supply through the offseason.
Next week, be on the lookout for a story examining the Green Bay Packers’ critical decision at quarterback. It’s time we closely examined this situation once more. Spent several hours chatting with players and coaches these past few weeks to get a read on all things Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love. This feature will be reserved for our paid subscribers.
Many longform pieces are already in the works. Cannot wait to share.

As a reminder, we’ll also be increasing the volume of Happy Hours for our VIP subscribers.
Tonight, the great T.J. Lang will hang out with members. Replays are available at the GoLongTD.com “Happy Hour” tab if you’d like to get a sense for how these work. Future guests include Dallas Clark, Warren Moon, Chris Simms and whoever you want. A VIP membership includes full Happy Hour access, a Go Long hoodie and a signed copy of “The Blood and Guts: How Tight Ends Save Football.”
And it’s always draft season. As I type this, there’s a good chance Bob McGinn is chatting with an NFL coach or scout or studying Senior Bowl film himself. Nobody’s been more connected over the last four decades. McGinn’s full 2022 series is archived here, and the 39th edition of his series will be available for Go Long subscribers this spring.
I know we’ve got a good amount of new readers to Go Long — welcome!
All stories from this past season are organized by Features, Columns, Q&As, etc. atop the GoLongTD.com home page. A handful of our most-read pieces from the season are linked below.
Never hesitate to reach out at golongtd@gmail.com to let me know what you’re hoping to get out of your membership.
