Want to hang out with T.J. Lang?
Of course you do! Become a Go Long VIP to gain full Happy Hour access.
Good morning!
The NFL season is over but do not shed a tear. Now, the fun begins.
There’s no such thing as an “offseason” in pro football. This sport only moves one direction at one speed. Extremely excited to work on several longform projects here at GoLongTD.com, and we’ll be ramping up the Happy Hours for our VIP members.
To gain access to all Happy Hours and receive both a Go Long hoodie & a signed copy of “The Blood and Guts: How Tight Ends Save Football,” you can upgrade to a VIP membership. With longform pieces on the Packers, the Bills looming — in addition to Bob McGinn’s unparalleled NFL Draft coverage — it’s a swell time to make the move.
Our next Happy Hour guest promises to be a riot.
T.J. Lang, a Packers (and Lions) great, will hang out with VIP members this Friday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. (EST). All log-in information can be accessed right here upon upgrading. And if you have any issues, please email me at golongtd@gmail.com.
I first got to know Lang at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel a decade ago. He was one of the players in that Packers locker room with a magnetic pull. Always open, always honest, Lang always had stories to share. After winning a Super Bowl in 2010, Lang admittedly needed to whip himself into shape. He turned a life of party into business to win a starting spot in 2011 and became a leader on some of Green Bay’s best teams ever. It wasn’t easy. In 2012, Lang was dealt a devastating blow when his father passed away. We discussed this tragic loss in-depth.
As a player? Lang could both hold his own vs. the most ferocious interior pass rushers of his era (hello, Ndamukong Suh) and pave the way for the likes of Eddie Lacy on the ground. That 2014 team was particularly special. Will never forget how determined Lang was to dictate the terms of physicality vs. the “Legion of Boom” Seattle Seahawks in that 2014 NFC title games. (Alas…)
Lang made the Pro Bowl in both 2016 and 2017.
Today, he’s a Dad. He’s a fantastic Twitter follow. And he’s still doing work with the Lions as a sideline reporter. I bumped into Lang while working on this series last season. Lang should be able to give us more insight into what makes that Lions offensive line so gnarly… in addition to everything going down with the Packers, of course. Maybe you’ve heard. It’s a critical offseason in Green Bay.
We’d love it if you considered becoming a Go Long VIP today.
When you do, please tell me which player you would like to hang out with on a Zoom Happy Hour. Last week’s session with Jamaal Williams was a wild ride — here’s that full replay. Recent past guests include Stevie Johnson, Chad Brown, Richie Incognito and Wyatt Teller. Love meeting as many of you as possible. This is a great opportunity for us to hang out over a beer or three.
And if you can put up with the bald-as-hell model below, here’s what the new hoodies look like. There were issues with the logo peeling off of the first batch in March 2021 — that won’t happen with these hoodies. Huge thanks to “Positive Approach” in downtown Buffalo for the superb, sleek printing.
Thank you, everyone.
