Week in Review: Can the Miami Dolphins win bully ball?
It was a busy week at Go Long. Catch up on all stories, all podcasts inside.
Thankfully, football remains a contact sport. Until the league completely eliminates blocking and tackling, most all playoff games will be decided at the line of scrimmage. To some degree.
That’s not caveman talk. Games tighten in January. (The weather turns, too.)
So, if you’re going to nitpick these electrifying Miami Dolphins, that’d be it. My friend Colin Cowherd shared his skepticism.
What a matchup Miami has this Sunday night against the physically tough Philadelphia Eagles.
Mike McDaniel — the smartest man in the room who doesn’t act like the smartest man in the room — undoubtedly knows this his team will need to win different ways. The Buffalo Bills supplied a reminder at Highmark Stadium. In that vein, the importance of 6-foot-6, 300-pound defensive lineman Zach Sieler will only heighten.
For our Friday Feature this week at Go Long, we chat at length with one of the NFL’s most underrated players.
When Sieler stepped onto campus at D-II Ferris State, NFL hope was bleak. He was barely north of 200 pounds, a walk-on and the coaches didn’t see him as anything more than a scout-team body. Now, he’s an extremely valuable piece on a Super Bowl contender. We get into 4 a.m. lifts, Walmart egg beaters and hunting wild boar.
I also think you’ll find Press Taylor’s perspective on offensive football in 2023 quite interesting below. The Jaguars’ OC takes you inside the lab.
Hope you all have a great weekend.
