What an insane Week 9 in the NFL. We try to make sense of it all, from Josh Allen's dud in Jacksonville to Mike McCarthy's blowout loss in Dallas to... Jordan Love and Aaron Rodgers.
I'm not in panic mode over Jordan Love. Yes, he had problems. But the offensive line was just awful in pass protection in this game...especially the center and right guard. It was like a freeway for pass rushers going thru there. Plus look at the first play of the game, they could not even execute a simple flat route...ie where is the receiver in the flat. 81 should be there but he does not come across from the left side of the offensive line to the right flat. It should have been an easy completion, but he is not there. They later execute this same play to perfection for a 1st down. The play calling was suspect at best....we could run the ball with Dillen, if they just stuck with it....but no....can't do that to take some pressure off Love. Then PANIC should be over the "Special Teams", two missed FG's AND a screw up on another punt that allowed KC to recover the ball at the GB 10 yard line. Yes...Love needs to improve. But that's still 9 points. With a sound game plan and better execution by the offensive line and special teams, we win that game going away.
Mike Lombardi had a great point the other day. Explained that Stafford accidentally makes the Rams a softer team. With Goff at QB the Rams would run the ball much more and that creates toughness. Now that McVay has Stafford they just throw all the time & no toughness. Thought it was great point
Respectfully, Tyler: 1) I enjoy your acumen and fresh insights. Thank you. 2) My concern is with your following comment, above: "Until then, they’re all, all, all in on a Super Bowl-or-Bust season with Rodgers… and everything that comes with Rodgers." Hmmmm....If the GB GM was "all in," then he would have cut one or more CURRENT players to obtain enough cap $ room to sign CB Stephen Gilmore....and/or the current situation: OBJ is on waivers, pending a team claiming him.....Of course, GB has LITTLE chance on the so-called food chain of successfully claiming him because of its 7-2 record....My point: If you wish to define "all in," then I'd use the example of AZ & Tampa Bay's GMs who displayed this "ALL IN" behavior with transactions in the last TWO offseason (Tampa Bay) and AZ (this past offseason).....
As for the GB GM, he failed miserably in January/February 2021 to address deficiencies in the DL and OLB and ILB...and ONLY signed #59 in August as a late-signing UFA....who, of course, has been stellar. Yes, the CB signing of #29 R. Douglas: another kudos to GB's GM.....BUT I would suggest on the "All In" meter, GB's GM is a 5 rating....and Tampa Bay's is a 10....and Arizona's is an 8.
Who should panic?

Tyler should panic because he cannot get the McGinn podcast up in a timely manner

Great comments about that ridiculous Bills game.

Need to have some kind of panic meter scoreboard with trending.
