Outstanding! An expertly woven story that reminds me of your eye-opening Favre article from the old JS days. Part II is eagerly anticipated.

The quality of the Favre piece was what first got my attention. “Hey, this kid writer is really good. I mean REALLY good.”

After eventually having lost track of both you and Bob McGinn after your respective departures, blue chip reads became less common.

Go Long found me through Linkedin, not the other way around. Thanks to a bit of serendipity I rediscovered top shelf journalism - unvarnished, honestly comprehensive, uncensored, unbiased, and with courage and conviction not to serve as anybody’s propaganda huckleberry for the company buck, fame, and the undeserved promotion. This is one person who craves more independent journalism across the board.

Thanks for keeping journalistic integrity alive. What’s still left of it that is. Lord knows there are those out there who are doing all they can in their power to monopolize information released.

From the world of sports, of all unlikely places perhaps, hope shines brightly. Never quit!

Unbelievably kind of you. Man.

Thank you so much for the kind words, Mike.

Go Long exists because there's an appetite for longform. I am so fortunate that you all hit pause on life and devote a half-hour to reading Kevin Kolb's story. It's not easy to take that deep breath. And you just nailed our goal -- honest, unvarnished journalism is forever the goal. Going independent has been more fulfilling than I could've imagined.

Always good to hear from you -- thanks again -- and hope everyone out there knows you can email me any time to let me know what you'd like to read. (golongtd@gmail.com)

This story is perfect example of why I subscribe here. Feel awful for Kolb.

Man, thank you so much for reading as always. A surreal decade for Kolb, but he's in a good spot right now.

Good stuff but why they hate towards the Beastie Boys??

Let me answer that question by asking you this, Joe....

Why is there love toward subpar music?

Whoa! Thanks for telling this story. You help us see the human side of football Tyler. Both the positive and the negative stuff. Looking forward to part 2.

Always appreciate your readership, Mark. Thank you so much.

Many sides to the game we love. Feel like we can't put our head in the sands when there's one that makes us cringe.

Very well written article. Kolb's story should be told to ever high school athlete who wants to continue playing in college. I worked with Kevin right after he retired. I saw what it had done to him. I am ecstatic to hear that his fight continues. He is not a quitter but a competitor in every thing he does. May God bless him and his family. Keep the faith channel your athletic drive to become a better man.

Outstanding piece on a critical issue for the Football Community from pee wee to Canton. Thx.

Great piece, Tyler. I recall Kolb's player years but did not really aware of why his career was cut short. I wish the best for him and his family, and all the other ex-players who are getting shafted by Goodell and league owners, treat concussions like mine operators claiming their workplaces have nothing to do with black lung disease. Keep up the good work.

This was hard to read. I remember when Kolb was on the Bills and fans were making fun of him because they thought he was soft. It feels so cruel to think about all these years later.
