So I’m an admitted Bears fan. Living in Madison, WI for the past 15 years I’ve followed the Packers too. I don’t hate them and only root against them when they’re playing the Bears (which hasn’t exactly been favorable for me). Ty agree with most of what you said except many of the players on the roster are lifted up by Rodgers in my opinion and wouldn’t be stars or even really good with other QBs. Rodgers has always been petulant and his performance has outweighed the headaches. Additionally, if Packers thought Love was good enough they wouldn’t be publicly begging. It may be time to move on from an untenable relationship but I suspect they take a bigger step backward than you’re eluding to. Rodgers is a multiplier, makes offensive players better while taking pressure off defense to be perfect. Not sure Love (or any first time starter) can replace that in the next 2-3 season.

Totally agree. The “worst way” comment was too far for me, completely reeked of desperation. It moves the conversation from Rodgers gives us our best chance to we have no chance without Rodgers. I think that does have a negative impact on the other players since you are basically saying they are not good enough without an all-time great QB. If Trent Dilfer and Rex Grossman can be the QBs of Super Bowl teams, then I think the Packers could be too without Rodgers. There is the saying that a great QB makes those around him better, but I do wonder if not having a great QB makes the team rally together because there isn’t that one person that will win the game for them.

Also, if Rodgers goes on Mayne’s show and denies all this and says it’s made up, I will have even less respect for him. There is clearly something there, the Packers have affirmed it. Don’t insult my intelligence with anything less than honesty.

There is a difference between bending over backwards .... and bending over.

It's also amazing how Tomlin has always kept his teams on the same page despite drama and prima donnas. Imagine how much Tomlin just kept quiet with Bell and AB on the same team? Not to mention the legal problems of Rothlisberger. Even things like Juju's dancing seem quaint and never become The Story. Well run organization. I think the Packers are well run, as well, but it does not mean they are perfect but the strategy is always there - build for the long term.

Could they, or perhaps even should they, have won more Super Bowls? Perhaps. But to be in contention almost every season for 30 years is not an accident. And while the team is currently fumbling through this current self-inflicted wound, the strategy of having a solid team built mostly through drafts has proven wise.

Let's see what happens June 1st and go from there. Everything else between now and then is speculation regardless of what Rodgers says to Kenny Mayne.

Great read. As much as McCarthy deteriorated as a play caller and head coach over the final seasons, I did appreciate his language during the Favre fiasco. To both their credits, Favre met with his coach (I seem to recall for a significant chunk of time), and McCarthy came out and said "The train has left the station." Now, McCarthy was pushed there by the silence of Ted Thompson, but it was still a necessary moment. Seems like LaFleur needs a similar moment.
