Torture devices. Late-night film. Instincts sharpened through nearly 200 games. The Minnesota Vikings safety is piecing together a career worthy of Canton... and he's not close to finished yet.
PS Tyler. Could you not delete or alter in any way blue language that athletes from time to time utter in conversations? We’re not children. We’ve heard the word fuck before. We can handle it. You honor your paying customers when you give them the bald truth of language. Keep up your great work. We can tell that your heart is in your sentences.
Love hearing this, Rog. I've heard from a couple folks who think we're too raw dashing out the "u" and the "c." But if more people prefer hearing these guys verbatim, that's definitely preferable. It's how players talk in a relaxed environment and we don't want to ever censor at all.
Heard this was coming off your keyboard, Tyler. Gave it a quick read. Will slow it down and savor it later tonight. After I heard the Vikings moved back into the first to draft this dude, I found his combine prep posted on YouTube. It’s still on YouTube: https://youtu.be/3G_Hqo30cBI?si=uGYGl8ovNsr-89aj
Now, aside from the flyer you’ve taken on a certain Green Bay quarterback, your opinion that Harrison Smith would look very good in Green and Gold proved to be a Tyler Dunne prediction that prescient. Smith missed a few games with a nagging turf toe problem during the Mike Zimmer years, but Smith has been both good and durable. Can’t underestimate the latter. Read the whole story last night. You did another good job introducing new things about an established athlete.
You know which safety should be in Canton? How about Darren Woodson?!? The defensive leader of 3 Super Bowl winners and the Cowboys' all-time tackle leader.
This was an awesome read, Tyler. I learned a lot from it, and enjoyed the mix of profile and football lore elements.
You got it, Michael. Will keep 'em coming. Thank you for sharing the good word!

Loved this Combine vid. Good stuff. I had to do a double take when he said it's been 13 years. Crazy how fast time flies -- wayyy back in the day I first talked to Harrison for a blog post at the JS. Funny looking back at this: https://archive.jsonline.com/sports/packers/smith-has-tools-if-packers-go-safety-first-ba51pgl-147857565.html

Agreed. He’s a good one.
Loved this convo: https://www.golongtd.com/p/go-long-q-and-a-darren-woodson-opens
Good article. Good player. Wished for years that Green Bay had him.
