With one game to go, decision day looms. The New York Giants need to completely start over to turn this team around, too. How far will Mara go? We talk to more people in the know.
This whole situation is awesome. I don't care about the Giants one way or another, but you absolutely had something to do with that.... seemingly not great person Joe Judge being fired. Awesome reporting sir
Great series of articles , I hate the giants ( since super bowl 25 ) , but was always kind of jealous as they always seemed like a pretty good organization , crazy how far they dropped .
As long as Mara family is still employed on the football side of decision making the Giants will suffer on the field. Anybody who has worked in a family owned company that employs unqualified family members in leadership positions knows what I'm talking about. If you're a competent GM or HC candidate, you look at this situation and say hard no.
Wow great follow up to part two. It doesn’t give me hope when I read this. I wrote a letter to JM, supposedly he still reads them, and let my ticket agent know not only will I not be buying more seats but may forego the two sets I have. I told him we’ll speak when the organization clarifies what the future will be.
It’s incredible that any business could be this dysfunctional but really demonstrates the money making machine the NFL is.
I'm writing with the benefit of knowing they fired Judge, which you didn't have when you wrote this. Given the types of guys they are interviewing for GM--most or all of whom are top notch and who presumably would not be interviewing if they didn't really want the job--would you agree that they do not appear to share the view created by your series that the nepotism makes the situation nearly hopeless? Frankly, i'm really impressed that they are looking at guys like Schoen, Peters, Poles, Wilson and Hortiz. I don't see any reason why, with some good hires on the coaching staff, they cannot get the franchise back on track. Agree or disagree?
As for the scouting situation the new GM will walk into, if he thinks Pettit is a zero, presumably he'll be gone. Even if he doesn't think that, he may have his own lieutenants he may want to install. Chris and Tim presumably won't go anywhere because they're family. But, a good GM will presumably decipher if they have anything worthwhile to add and then assign their reports the appropriate weight (some or none). All of which is to say...the family influence is not ideal, but i don't see it as an impossible hurdle to overcome.
Tyler can your sources give you any insight into what was going on in the locker room this past season for the NYG? Sounds conflicting that they publicly supported him, but big frustrations internally....

Some interesting comments from the head man, eh? Thanks so much for reading, Rob. Just want to get to the truth in this space -- always.
Part IV ought to focus exclusively on 3rd and long QB sneaks. Comedy gold!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN3GoTFh_JI
Utter surrender.

Appreciate you, Gary!

Great insight. Sounds like someone should write a book
