Scouts on Love: 'Most physical upside of any of these guys'
Out of Utah State, what did the NFL scouting community think of the Green Bay Packers' new starting quarterback? It was... a mixed bag. Bob McGinn empties his notebook.
This is the first of a series of stories looking back at active players and their situations entering the NFL draft. The comments from personnel men were made to me in the months leading up to the draft for my NFL Draft Series, which dates to 1985. Scouting football prospects is an inexact science, particularly in terms of off-the-field factors. It often has been said that no two evaluators view a player exactly the same way.
In 2020, the Green Bay Packers selected quarterback Jordan Love of Utah State with the 26th pick of the first round. On Sunday, Love will begin his first season as a starter. He follows Aaron Rodgers (2008-’22) and Brett Favre (1992-’07) as the Packers’ third No. 1 quarterback in three decades.
Love’s play will be scrutinized like few players this season.
