College football is a cutthroat monopoly but, as we learn at Go Long, there is a team in the Sun Belt completely changing the game. Here's the inside story.
All-around great writing. You hooked me with the awesome visual metaphors up front, featured plenty of sources and specific milestones that back the main narrative throughout - helping to bring me back to center in a long article and made it a true insider perspective. It’s a great story that underscores that a team is a collection of individuals, with stories that inform who they are on the field. Good coaches know those stories and channel them constructively to fuel a team and create the “culture” everyone drones on about. People-centered personalities need a chance to lead in NFL locker-rooms, which rewards dominant, demanding personality types for no apparent reason. I know it’s a lot to get “buy-in” from millionaires, but when a coach gets and harnesses that, history says it’s an unstoppable force.
