Podcast: Buffalo and New England close in on their AFC East collision course
We're joined by The Athletic's Matthew Fairburn to talk all things New England and Buffalo. Should the Bills still be worried about their style? Just how good is rookie Mac Jones? Answers on the pod.
A 31-6 win against New Orleans’ JV squad was nice after getting shellacked by Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts, but it’s all about Dec. 6 and Dec. 26 for the Buffalo Bills (7-4). That’s when they’ll play the surging New England Patriots (7-4).
In 2021, it’s all about the Super Bowl for the Bills. They were one game away in 2020 and you never know how long that window will stay open.
Apparently, the post-Tom Brady Patriots aren’t close to being dead. Bill Belihick proved early that he still has his fastball. Now, the defense is shutting teams down and rookie quarterback Mac Jones has exceeded everyone’s expectations.
So, to take a critical look at the state of both teams as December football nears, we welcome on old friend Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic. He covered these Bills and is now on the Patriots beat. I think you’ll love his sharp perspective. As always, former Bills director of personnel Jim Monos provides a fresh take on Josh Allen, too.
