Ohio State's Dawand Jones epitomizes an ultra-polarizing class of offensive linemen. He could be a "Hall of Famer" but, as is the case with everyone in 2023, scouts have serious questions.
“He’s just got poor football character. Lazy, but he blocked Alabama, he blocked Georgia like it was nothing.”
Imagine you're in a sales job and the sales manager has this to say about you: "He doesn't have a good work ethic, but he blows out his sales number like it is nothing."
As a Packer fan, I'd have zero issue with D15 being used on Wright or Paris. Zero.
With these guys it comes down to motivation, charachter, drive to succeed. That is why bringing Wright in for a visit was critical. But this applies to all of the other top 15 players. They all have great physical tools, but do they have the mental makeup to optimize the tools? People thought Rashan Gary was an underachiever at Michigan too. They laughed at Packers for drafting him that high.
We're the scouts wrong? Or did he just have a come to Jesus moment?
We might also overlook the impact of better coaching, better nutrition and training, and most importantly the peer pressure of being around better and more hard working athletes.
Bob I loved the Unsung Hero write up on Jake Witt from Northern. But I have it on good authority that Joe Ostman is NOT a UP native but rather grew up in Mackinaw City! Yes, he was a St Ignace HS grad.
Legit question: Is the Wonderlic a difficult test? Seems to me that anything below a 9 (or thereabouts) seems to invite questions. I know a lot of people talk a lot of junk about the test, but it seems important to test the test taking form of intelligence as well.
I found one online once. I think it's kind of abstract, like look at this pattern and pick the pattern if it were rotated 270 degrees clockwise. It's not difficult but you have to move fast.
What I don't get is why guys will skip running the 40 and then take a wonderic in the single digits
This summary of OT Darnell Wright cracked me up:

They should just cancel the draft. They are all bums.

Ding! That's exactly what was said about Gary.

The more I hear about Skoronski the more I like him, I just can't see the Packers drafting a guard in the first round.

I had to take Wonderlic for a job interview (or prior to). You can find practice Wonderlic tests online if interested.
Obligatory once-yearly Brent Fullwood reference.

This pours some cold water on the Darnell Wright hype. Also Anton Harrison sure seems underrated.
