Ty, I listened to the recording of your hangout after the McDermott article. I find that much of the fan debate about the coach tends to be limited to single issues (e.g. late game management, robotic communication, over-thinking, favouring the defense, etc.) and then jumps to a verdict on keep or fire the coach based on that single issue (e.g. 9/11 example). I suggest that you keep elevating the discussion to the bigger picture which is a summary of the 4-5 overarching reasons that are preventing McDermott from leading the Bills to a championship.

I had somehow not known about Go Long despite living in Buffalo all my life (probably because I haven’t been on Twitter/X since 2017), so I was excited not to just read an explanation of sorts of *why* I was heartbroken as soon as the Eagles game went into OT but also to realize that you’re doing the sort of writing I’m really interested in, Bills and beyond! So thanks, and I look forward to maybe attending one of the happy hours in the future.

Greetings from Carlisle, PA!

I Really enjoyed the series- I’m from Buffalo, and plan to retire near the waterfront next year after I retire from 32 years of service in our Army (...so yes, last weekend was a good one with both Army and Buffalo prevailing on the field!)

I vote for another Happy Hour, as I am just learning this is a thing!

I've read most of your articles on Sean Mcdermott, including "13 Seconds," and your recent "The McDermott Problem," series and I've enjoyed them and found them to be very credible. Some may say that your inclusion of "anonomous or unknown sources" leaves you open to charges of airing grievances from "sore losers" or malcontents, but I disagree. After hearing and parsing McDermott's public comments, I find these background comments to be even more reinforcing. The fact that 22 staff have been fired or left also supports your charges. I agree with your assessment of the Bill's head coach as an anxious, blame-shifting, poor game manager and it leads me to believe that the Bills talent and resilience has been nullified by his mismanagement. The sad part is that McDermott is wasting Josh Allen's prime, and that is inexcusable! I told my brother who's rooted for the Bills for nearly sixty years that the Bills would never make it to the Super Bowl with this guy at the fore. Unfortunately, the Bills will probably keep him because Pegula is just another rich owner who believes he might never have gotten a new stadium (and much more revenue) without McDermott's leadership. Let it be said and I believe you credit him, McDermott has rescued a down-and-out team and is a good defense coordinator. Once again, I applaud you for your courage and thoroughness. I’ve read all three parts of your feature on McDermott. I appreciate the time and effort you put into it and the risk you took in exposing some things Bills fans may not want to hear. Many people are caught up in the individual stories that are embarrassing, but my main takeaway is how Sean performs poorly under pressure. That is reflected in how the Bills perform under pressure, particularly the defense. We have seen it repeatedly this season and in the past.

Hopefully, your feature will cause some reassessment within the Bills and lead to decisions that address the problems you’ve identified.
