Two different interpretations of the problems but I tend to side with Monos.
The Bills skill players and defensive line just didn’t step up when they need them. There’s absolutely no excuse why Diggs doesn’t make that catch. IMO this loss had a lot to do with roster management than it did with coaching. The Bills would have loved to the throw the ball around, but they were self aware of the lack of talent on their team and in the KC secondary.
With that being said, I think this has to be a “make or break” year for McDermott. I think he’s a much better coach than Ty gives him credit for, but even as a support I get the same “maxed out” feeling you both mentioned.
I’ve read comparisons of McDermott to NBA coaches like Doug Collins and Mark Jackson and it’s starting to make a lot of sense. Sometimes you move on from a good coach to one to one that can get you to the next level.
