Is he Brock Purdy or Kenny Pickett? Nobody knows. But it sure is refreshing to see a rookie quarterback get a chance like this... even if Sean McVay is still pouting.
Watched every snap of this kid as I’m a generational Bama fan. He has touch and can sling it quickly to the sidelines. Needs to know when the play is over as he tries to escape backwards which will lead to huge losses because pro guys aren’t slow. He moves around the pocket well. His pre-snap diagnosis is where he excels. Son of a coach he knows what defenses are doing and are likely to do. Moves players with his eyes very well. Can pull it and get yards but not very fast or quick. His drop off came the minute he first got hurt. Even the Florida St. game you can’t really pin on him and had Bama had any semblance of a running game this pick would’ve been praised. Very accurate in the middle of the hashes too. Being able to sit will help as he takes coaching very well and won’t make the same mistake twice. Not a “system” QB. Has a brain. Will be a very good NFL QB. Feel free to bring this up 5 years from now.

So very true and his talent will be pissed away in a very Trent Richardson kind of way. Meanwhile his backfield teammate goes to the defending SB champs to play for an organization that is on the opposite end of the spectrum in all areas.
That will make for some interesting midfield conversations twice a year for the foreseeable future.
It's incredibly difficult to see how Love can thrive in this Cardinals team - the draft really can be cruel considering Love's teammate, Jadarian Price, a fantastic RB but still nowhere near Love's level of ability, gets to play his football with the Superbowl champs!
Also, thank you to you and the Go Long team, Tyler, for your draft coverage. As a UK NFL fan, an advocate for long-form journalism, and predominantly a follower of Boxing - yourself along with a handful of great writers over at The Athletic's work are miles ahead of those who cover boxing.
Really on top of your game here, Tyler. Excellent piece.
Thank you for reading, Jan. Appreciate this!

Phenomenal insight.
Thank you for sharing, James!
Wow, Thanks Tyler. Coming from you it means a lot.
It’s been said, "You can take the pick out of Atlanta, but you can’t take Atlanta out of the pick."

Oh, Kenny Pickett.
