I actually anticipate Aaron being taken aback by Gutekunst’s candor. No, the general manager did not explicitly say “Jordan’s our quarterback”, but it doesn’t take multiple reads of the statements that Tyler has neatly arranged for us here to conclude that Green Bay is moving on from 12. The most striking of Gutekunst’s words, to me, were “We took him for a reason back in 2020.” Ask yourselves, folks, was that reason trading him? Using him indeterminately as a backup? No. The reason was so that he would eventually be the Packers’ starting QB. From all appearances, then, that eventuality has arrived.
I remember being on a virtual happy hour that night in 2020. After a few adult beverages two of my coworkers, one a Bears fan and the other a Vikings fan, teased me about Rodgers getting old.
My response? "You watch, Jordan Love is going to fall to the Packers and they're going to sprint to the podium to take him." It's all my fault guys.
Good article Tyler, completely agree! I wonder if perhaps Gutey wants to move on to Love, but perhaps Murphy and/or LaFleur want Rodgers back? Ever since Murphy changed the organizational chart to have the coach report to him, I've questioned what the impact of that decision would be. Ron Wolf was never a fan of that, probably because it creates competing directions of football operations. I wonder if there is a story there...
I've long believed this to be the truth. I think if it was up to Gute and Lafleur, they both wouldve moved on from Rodgers last year but were overuled by Murphy.
A lot of people coming late to the party here. Heard Mina Kimes echoing Bob's report early this week. Spoon has a new article drawing similar conclusions as well.
Well, if 12 wants to make sure it mutual, and feel wanted, this presser, he would then find lacking in desire. BG, seems to feel they took Love for a reason, and that is to start, and that he has made considerable improvement . While he has made considerable improvement, his next jump is playing. Frankly it'd be so much easier if they just said it. At this point, AR probably has to be considerably better than Love to be the starting QB in GB. At least in practice, and in the Philly game, AR did not seem to be that much above him .

I think you meant "Breaking Up is Overdue"
Come on Gutey, get a deal done. Don't leave Indy without a pocket full of draft picks!
They're probably trying to make it hard for AR to say that he's coming back to them, while providing the room needed for him to save face.

I'm out of words. Everything that can be said, has been said.
All I want for Christmas is drama-free Packer football. So sick of the one-man circus that just wont leave town.

Nice work T.
Slackers.com had the presser, but couldn't hear the questions, which makes it worthless.
You guys have the best site in the biz.
Looking forward to the draft, boss!
