Another great show. When Bob mentioned Dave Begel of the Journal, I instantly wondered if Begel and Starr got into it in Starr's den. Certainly would be interested to hear Bob's take on that time when those two would always get into it at press conferences. I always enjoyed reading Begel's stuff and know Starr hated him. Bob must have had a ringside seat for some of those confrontations. If memory is right--and it probably isn't--I believe Begel eventually got pulled off the Packer beat, or he gave it up.
I double-checked Bob's numbers on Enagbare and can't find any source that lists him at 271 at the combine as Bob stated. Everything I see lists him at 258, same as now. Just a side comment. Fantastic pod as always. Thanks guys
Lived right next door to Bob Schulze for about 10 years. Great guy.
Also, just remembered. Starr actually lived across the street from the Keglers Club bowling alley.
His name was in the phone book (probably his bat phone). One time my buddy and I called the number and Bart answered. He talked to us for about 5 minutes. Another time he came to talk to us 7th graders at Allouez school.
Now this is primarily a Vikings podcast - they go first and get the bulk of the time - used to be a Packers podcast with the rest of the NFC north thrown in - interesting change - I hate the Vikings.
It was an NFC North pod last year as well. Did include the time stamp in the post if you’d like to get right to the Packers. Trying to our best to serve as many people as we can here, Jim. Thanks for listening. Other weeks, I’m sure we’ll discuss the Packers first.
Yes I know but the Packers primacy was still evident last year - not saying the discussions about the others three teams aren’t interesting - I usually listen to most of the whole show - I’m just pointing out the winds have surprisingly shifted for two old Packers writers - I hate the georgia bulldogs, the florida gators and notre dame, but I really hate the Vikings and that stupid horn.
I like getting a view of the whole conference. I'm learning a lot more than I would otherwise. There's plenty of extra Packers news out there but now when we watch the Packers play NFC North games we have a much broader view.
I love that Bob knows when he has something important, a small detail, "I'm trying to remember.....I think Cherry came out with some soft drinks." Yeah, that does say something about Bart and his wife. Jolly Good sodas, Bob?
I wonder if Hutchinson is at all comparable to AJ Hawk. Drafted very high. Consistent, true football player with a lower ceiling than anyone expected.
I recall that cousin Bob predicted or suggested the Packers would take Simmons first pick (the year they too Gary) - his case was compelling and I think Mr McGinn was as correct (they should have taken Simmons) in retrospect.

He's a difference maker.

Jim is my Dad’s nickname - I’m a Junior - I go by Jamie (Dad selected my nickname).
Wanna Cookie?
No idea what that means

Take it easy, Frances.

AJ Hawk, the player Bob McGinn (accurately) called the definition of average.
Apples to Oranges, Jake.
Both are fruit. Neither an exceptional fruit, Toonces? Or do you have something else in mind. Would like to hear.
A.J Hawk was a slow MLB. 6'1 240
Hutch is an athletic DE. 6'6 265
I'm straight as an arrow, fruit cake.

Great Bob memory!
Tried to help take the goal posts down that year against the Cards!
Jimmy's a party pooper.
