Bob’s touching tribute to Brother Denny was great dessert at the end of this pod. Denny’s long-distance efforts to keep Bob informed about West Coast teams through the incisive and economical prose of West Coast reporting lions helped make Bob the reporter he was when he was on the beat. Thank you for sharing your brother with us, McGinn.

Hey Ty and Bob - The passing line for the 1994 state champ, McKeesport, which had Brandon Short at linebacker, was 0 for 0 and for zero yards. They ran the wishbone.

Legacy Series: 30 years ago, unique McKeesport team ran to state title — quite literallyhttps://www.post-gazette.com/sports/high-school-football/2024/10/09/mckeesport-1994-state-football-champs-legacy-series-brandon-short/stories/202410090070

That was probably my favorite “McGinn Memory” yet. Very cool of his brother to send those clips to him, very nice tribute!

It’s hard to understand how a quarterback who literally threw the game away can get a higher PFF grade than a quarterback who played on the winning team, tossed three touchdown passes and one-third of the amount of interceptions the losing quarterback had? But, it depends on the biases of the grader(s).

I thought Darnold played pretty well - interestingly pro football focus gave him the teams lowest grade on offense - 45.5. For comparison Jordan Love had a rating of 69.9. Perhaps PFF grades are garbage but I thought this was interesting.
