There has to be an institutional bias in Green Bay about stopping the run. Even with bench players in the secondary, the Packers needed to force Pickett to beat them in the air. How on earth Barry wouldn't turn the game over to the 4 D1 picks up front to deliver a win is beyond me. Clearly, Gary, Clark, LVN, Wyatt and the rest aren't coached/schemed to stop the run, so load up the box and force the issue. The defense got shredded on the ground to the point that the offense only had 4 first half possessions. It is maddening to watch the same game plan week after week and listen to MLF presser saying 200 yards rushing just isn't gonna get it done.
The run defense had shown some progress in previous games and have thought some of the heat on Barry this year has been overblown, but indeed, that was just a stupid game plan yesterday. Don't care how young the cornerbacks were, Valentine had played well the week before and their QB is young too. Make him beat you. Allowing 200+ yards rushing to a team with a questionable QB is inexcusable.
It's obvious the NFL has gone the same way with laterals as they have with QBs throwing over the line of scrimmage: if there's any possible way to give the benefit of the doubt to the offense, officials are instructed to do so. That was obviously a lateral, but they went out of their way to try to call it something else. And it was a huge play.
Green Bay showed some progress yesterday. Staying in that game on the road was a worthwhile effort, even with the lousy run defense. But indeed it's a team that needs to make plays. Way too many stupid fade routes too. And Deguara possibly should be released for his error on that extra point (he was benched from that role after that play). He already doesn't give this team much of anything it couldn't find from any free agent.

Nicely done, TD! I loved the sweaty fifty year old line, considering I’m 56! I think this was great analysis!
Spoken from experience. In the Green Bay Rec League, I’m pretty sure we lost by 30 or 40 to dudes more than twice our age. Humbling!

"Possibly"?
I hope they do it, because he doesn't give them anything at all.
You're right...after rereading myself, 'possibly' was very kind. :)
