From what I've seen on tape, Van Ness looks like either of the Watt brothers, and better than Gary looked. That works for me. He played 1,000 snaps in 2 years. Packers have great relationship with Iowa coaching staff. Enough said.

Bob,

Thank you for this series and all of the information you pulled together! What a great read. Amazing work. Love the range of feedback from the scouts! Greatly appreciate you fitting this into your schedule AND all of the effort you put into the reports and reports like this one. You are a true "Hall of Famer" and on the Mt Rushmore of Football writers of all time! It has been an honor and pleasure to always read your work - THANK YOU! GO PACK!

the scouts know that they can compare football players to each other, even if they have different skin tones right?

Comparisons to LVN:

Grant Wistrom

Aaron Kampman

Kyle Vanden Bosch

Patrick Kerney

J.J. Watt

Bryce Paup

George Karlaftis

Justin Smith

Mockdraftable has none of these, it has Preston Smith, Robert Quinn, Cam Jordan, & Ziggy Ansah instead.

The great thing about Van Ness is that he seems very unlikely to clobber the other team's medical staff on the field, which is a big plus.

The comment from one scout is laughable. Didn’t start? He played the most snaps amongst their DL but had upperclassmen in front of him. And their DL had solid depth. LVN has only played five years of organized football so the needle is pointing up.

Sounds like LVN needs a little development, but this feels like a transition year anyway so I think they will be patient as he develops. If he is Rashan Gary or even Aaron Kampman, it's a home run.

I like the Kincaid pick too. Josh Allen is gonna love having that weapon.

Thanks Bob!

It's such a Packers pick. Like it or not, Gutekunst has a type and this is it.

Round 2: Michael Mayer, no matter what

These scouts are a joke. An Iowa country boy? He’s from an affluent Chicago suburb. Another scout says he didn’t know why he didn’t start at Iowa. Good god are they lazy
