Study the Stats: Why Monos' eyes are on Justin Fields
Our resident NFL scout on staff loved Justin Fields coming out of Ohio State. The second-year quarterback needs to make his move. Also, get Jim Monos' full scouting report on guard Cole Strange.
Don’t Gamble! (Unless responsibly)
The ending to the Steelers vs. Browns game Thursday night is the exact reason you should or should not gamble. The classic keep tossing the ball backwards to keep the play alive because there is a small (no) chance of possibly breaking free to score from 95 yards out. The reality is some people (me) may have had the Steelers +7.5! A friendly FanDuel promotion that was going to cash until the predictable fumble recovery in the end zone for the pointless end of the game touchdown that did not nothing for anyone except FanDuel faithful. I hate (love) gambling.
STS QB Stack
Monos Rating
In studying quarterbacks, I’ll continue to use the same eye-test formula I did last year. Each positive throw or run gets +1 and each negative play gets -1. In extreme cases, a QB may warrant +2 or -2. This total from the game is then divided by the number of pass and rushing attempts for a final “Monos Rating.”
This season, I’ll study and rank those quarterbacks in make-or-break seasons each week.
