Jim Monos, co-host of the flagship Go Long Podcast, served as an area scout for the Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints and the director of personnel for the Buffalo Bills. Now, he’s the director of football operations for the XFL.

Here’s his latest edition of “Study the Stats,” a column that seeks to dig for the substance beyond the numbers on a screen.

Today, Monos takes a detailed look at Deshaun Watson in his debut as the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback. As he writes, there was rust. Watson will need to improve quite a bit for Cleveland to get its return on (historic) investment.
