Podcast: Who do we love in 2022?
Free agency and the draft are in the past, so who's ready to contend? Let's all rush to conclusions. In a two-parter of a pod, we examine which teams took a step and which are stuck in the mud.
That Banjo Minnow lure is looking damn juicy yet again.
It’s right there. Just waiting to be devoured. Let’s take the bait.
Of course, the Miami Dolphins are ready to — once and for all — elevate into contention. A brilliant offensive mind devising plays… new weapons all over the field (hello, Tyreek Hill)… a new rover in the middle of the defense… and, hey, the Fins are also welcoming back the subject of our most-read story ever at Go Long from injury. There’s a lot to love with, you know, just a few unknowns at the quarterback position.
This was a fun two-part podcast.
In Part I, longtime personnel man Jim Monos and myself dissect which teams we love post-free agency and post-draft. Our draft god around here, Bob McGinn, was no fan of the Green Bay Packers’ selections and direction. He made valid points, too. Yet both of us do see a method to the madness of GM Brian Gutekunst. This is a team aiming to win a new way — with defense. Perhaps this counterpunch works.
Also, the Baltimore Ravens proved again why they’re the envy of front offices around the league.
In Part II, things turn a bit uglier. Monos sees a recent Super Bowl champ backsliding in 2022.
