The only way the Green Bay Packers could completely wash its hands of Aaron Rodgers is by finding a trading partner. And while they have not agreed to terms quite yet with the New York Jets, the two sides are close.

Very, very close.

Compensation is likely being ironed out as you read this sentence.

We’ve spent so much time analyzing the Packers’ motives, it’s about time we explored why the Jets would take his big swing. Owner Woody Johnson has been desperate for star power at quarterback — for years — but the Jets’ intentions run deeper, as the exceptional Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated explains on the podcast.

Orr, a good friend from our Daily Orange days at Syracuse, is easily one of the best pro football analysts in the game and penned an excellent column on Rodgers’ “Pat McAfee Show” appearance. Living out in New Jersey himself, he brings a wealth of knowledge on these Jets.

You were right Ty, when you said we should have traded Rodgers. We would have gotten much more than we will get from the Jets.

And Love would have had some real games under his belt going into this season. I admit when I’m wrong.
