Podcast: The Jags hype is building... and justified
This doesn't feel like 2018 because, this time, Jacksonville has a Super Bowl-winning head coach and a special quarterback. For more, we hang out with Mia O'Brien of 1010 XL.
The transformation may seem simple on the surface. Out is Urban Meyer, in is Doug Pederson. Out is Blake Bortles, in is Trevor Lawrence. But the reason the Jacksonville Jaguars enter a season with arguably more optimism than they ever have in three decades of existence runs much deeper.
We’ll have a story that dives into this all a few weeks from now.
Live today is my profile on wide receiver Zay Jones. Five years ago, Jones tried to hurl himself through a window 30 floors high. He survived that night. He escaped his (very) dark place. And, for the first time, he’s ready to open up on everything:
“I’m still alive:” The Zay Jones story
In lieu of today’s story and the one to come, I wanted to chat all things Jaguars with Mia O’Brien of 1010 XL in Jacksonville. We get into the Meyer-to-Pederson transition, why ‘23 is different than the ‘18 hype, Zay Jones’ personality and look ahead to their Super Bowl aspirations. O’Brien also just launched her own podcast, “The Scoop.”
