Podcast: The Cincinnati Bengals have a formula
Our pal Paul Dehner Jr. rejoins the show to shed light on why the Bengals are built to win now and in the future. Also, we break down Bills-Patriots... two teams speeding opposite directions.
The NFL’s model franchise resides in… Cincinnati? Believe that. Nobody in their right mind outside of Who Dey nation could’ve imagined speaking about the Cincinnati Bengals in such grandiose terms just a few years ago.
Joe Burrow has changed the calculus. The team’s star quarterback has had every answer for defenses in 2022.
Yet, the reason these Bengals are the envy of other franchises runs deeper. Where skeptics see a dangerously understaffed front office, the Bengals reap the rewards of a streamlined, no-BS operation. There’s no overthinking, no wasted Zoom meetings and, yes, drafting Ja’Marr Chase in the face of All-22 Warriors proved to be a stroke of genius.
On this episode of “Go Long with Dunne and Monos” — our flagship podcast, live from Fattey Beer Company in Orchard Park, NY — we welcome on excellent Bengals beat writer, Paul Dehner Jr., of The Athletic. You’ll love Dehner’s insight on Burrow, the team’s mentality and how Duke Tobin and Zac Taylor got so in-sync to rebuild Cincy the right way. This is a special two-part podcast, too. On a separate link, Jim Monos and myself break down the Buffalo Bills’ soul-sucking, 24-10 win over the New England Patriots on TNF.
