Podcast: On Tua and the Dolphins-Bills collision course... who's best equipped?
This feels like the 90s all over again. Miami. Buffalo. Crucial games in December. All is right in the football universe.
A true Miami-Buffalo rivalry is good for the game’s soul. For too long, both franchises were suffocating underneath the thumb of Tom Brady’s reign.
It’s 2022. It’s almost December. Both teams can realistically think and talk Super Bowl.
On this episode of “Go Long with Dunne and Monos,” we delve deeper into the development of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, a man who lost his confidence under Brian Flores and got it back under Mike McDaniel. (Part I of our “Tua Time” series.) He’s also a man who has inspired real championship hope in South Florida. (Part II of our series.) Thanks to all who subscribed over the weekend.
Now, we welcome longtime scout Jim Monos into the discussion. His analysis is spot on.
Everything is rooted in confidence. That’s what allowed Tagovailoa’s own super powers — anticipation, accuracy — to flourish.
The Dolphins will travel to Orchard Park, NY in a few weeks, which begs the question: Who’s in better shape to heat up down the stretch? Josh Allen willed Buffalo to a win in Detroit but is clearly affected by his elbow injury. Now, the defense will be without Von Miller indefinitely. Can the Bills grind through December?
Finally, Monos does not hold back on those pathetic Houston Texans. I don’t blame him.
Quick Note: I’m currently in Foxborough, Mass., for a Patriots feature you’ll read soon, hence the delay on this week’s wrap-up pod and Morning After column. Also, the sound quality takes a mini hit on this mic-less, road game of an episode. Thank you for your patience.
