Podcast: More Packers, more QB talk with Bob McGinn
"They want to go with Love." Yes, right now, Green Bay is prepared to move on. We continue the Packers discussion with another look at the quarterbacks and a position-by-position review.
As the final decision simmers in the darkness, let’s keep the conversation going right here at Go Long.
As promised, here’s the second part of a season wrap podcast with our Hall-of-Fame scribe, Bob McGinn.
McGinn walks you through a position-by-position review of the 2022 Packers… with a heavy emphasis on Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love. Of course, it was just Friday that McGinn reported here at GoLongTD.com that the Packers are prepared to move on from Rodgers and start Love. The reaction was quite loud. There’s even been a couple national reports suggesting the Packers want Rodgers back.
Once we get to the quarterbacks at the 21-minute mark, McGinn elaborates on the genesis of his reporting.
As he explains, first and foremost, this reporting is rooted in “sources with intimate knowledge of the Packers’ planning and deliberations.” The sources — more than his instincts — are driving this report. From McGinn this ep:
“They want to go with Love. They think the guy’s going to be a terrific player. He’s been there three years. Brian Gutekunst traded up for this guy. They’ve seen him develop in practice. … They’ve seen this guy all year long.”
Miss the feature on why Green Bay is so confident in Love? Here’s my story, which includes interviews with everyone who knows his game best.
On this podcast episode, McGinn details the parallels between Rodgers’ takeover in 2008, and this one. There are many.
Also, what’s next? What’s the dialogue like between Packers management and Rodgers?
