Podcast: Brett Favre, Brady vs. Belichick & Rookie QBs in today's NFL
It's Brady. It's Belichick. It's easily one of the most-anticipated regular season games of our lifetime. Also, why we love Brett Favre and which rookie QB can get rolling first?
Revenge is the sweetest storyline in sports. Honestly, it doesn’t get any better than this.
Tom Brady and Bill Belichick won six titles together. One day, they’ll be smiling at each other’s Hall of Fame speeches but that will not be the case Sunday night in Foxborough.
Brady left for Tampa Bay, convinced a slew of veterans to sign with him and won the Super Bowl in 2020.
Belichick spent $232 million on contracts this past offseason in his pursuit of a Super Bowl this 2021 season.
Who was more responsible for the dynasty in New England? It’s hard to argue against Brady right now. And even though this is just one of 17 regular-season games, you bet it’ll mean a lot to both.
On this episode of the Go Long Podcast — our 65th ep — we start everything off with a ton of Brett Favre talk. Bob McGinn’s two-part, 10,000-word series on the Hall of Fame quarterback tracks the epic rise of Favre, from Southern Miss to Atlanta to Green Bay and beyond. You’ll hear Favre stories you’ve never heard before, too.
I hope you enjoy. Parts I and II are linked at the bottom of this post for subscribers, ICYMI.
From there, it’s on to the game of the week. Maybe Brady does run away with this one but we’re not counting out Belichick. Not yet.
Finally, what’s going on with all of these rookie quarterbacks? Every single one has struggled. Mightily. Monos explained in his weekly report Thursday AM and dives deeper on the podcast. Who does he see busting out of the funk first? His answer may surprise you and I still love Trey Lance in San Francisco. Sooner or later, Kyle Shanahan will need to rip off the Band-Aid.
