Only so much truth is gleaned at press conferences. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is saying all of the right things publicly.

But what’s really going on at quarterback for these San Francisco 49ers?

This episode with co-host Jim Monos attempts to predict the wildest outcomes this 2022 NFL season. We explain our Super Bowl picks in greater detail — Monos sees Bills/Packers, while I’m rolling with Bengals/Packers — before then thinking outside the box a bit.

Those 49ers are particularly intriguing. Shanahan has Garoppolo on the roster for a reason. Monos wouldn’t be surprised if “Jimmy G” has this team in the NFC Championship Game once again. Tua Tagovailoa faces a make-or-break Year 3. Everything around the Dolphins quarterback was a mess in 2021. With everything now resembling a young quarterback’s dream, I think we should expect quite a leap in 2022. A playoff berth, a playoff win, book it.

We’re in agreement on the peculiar New England Patriots.

Is there a last-place team with a Bengals-sized leap in them. (Yes, says Monos.)
