Mailbag: What's next for Packers QB Jordan Love?

The Packers are counting on a massive step in Year 3. Also, we riff on the Jerry Jones-Micah Parsons standoff, Bryce Young's Panthers, the NFLPA and our 2025 surprise team.

What’s up, everyone? Greetings from Go Long HQ.

Been chipping away at one of our most ambitious projects yet.

As noted last week, in lieu of a training camp tour, we took a different approach to 2025. One of our challenges here is to deliver day-to-day content while also staying true to form. It’s right in our name, right? We want to bring you longform in this sport and investigative work requires 25+ interviews. Thank you again for hanging tight.

Once the 2025 NFL Season begins, you can expect our regular cadence of columns, features and podcasts. I’ll detail our plans soon.

In the meantime? Let’s get to your mailbag questions.

Excellent submissions by all.

Hi Tyler,

Looking ahead over the next 2-3 years in the NFC North, which team is best positioned to make a sustained Super Bowl run? Based on factors like quarterback contracts, salary-cap flexibility, coaching and roster-building approach, I feel the Vikings and Bears are in strong positions. Both have rookie quarterbacks on affordable deals, aggressive front offices that spent wisely in free agency, and young innovated offensive coaches. Meanwhile, Detroit has a strong core but will soon face cap pressure with big extensions coming up. Green Bay’s draft-and-develop philosophy hasn’t produced consistent results lately and Jordan Love is about to get expensive.

Hope you and your family are having a nice summer. Can’t wait for football to start. Thanks for all of your hard work you do for this site.

Steve Livermore

Always love hearing from you, Steve. Send my best to all of the good folks at Fox Harbor Pub in downtown Green Bay. Loved those buckets of crawdads on a summer night (with a Spotted Cow or five). I’m with you on the NFC North. Even though this division got its clock cleaned in the playoffs, it sure looks positioned to be very strong the next few years.

Two initial gut feelings for you.

  1. The Detroit Lions aren’t close to being finished.

  2. I’m still buying that Jordan Love stock.

Brain drain is a real thing in the NFL, but the Lions have been prepping for the exits of Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. On offense, John Morton takes over as offensive coordinator and I think it’s very noteworthy that he was with Dan Campbell in 2022 as a senior offensive assistant. He saw firsthand how everything was implemented before spending two seasons in Denver with Sean Payton. On defense, Campbell’s been grooming ex-LB Kelvin Sheppard for this promotion.

And when you look at this roster, my gosh.

There’s star level talent and depth.
