The Packers need someone to step up at wide receiver in 2022. Why not Winfree? In great detail, he explains how the last eight years of chaos prepared him to replace Davante Adams. (Really.)
I hate to drip with skepticism, but not sure how Winfree turned one good game into a career and how we should expect that playing on the periphery of the Packers roster for two years, will give him a leg up on Watkins, Cobb or one of three draft picks.
I love the long shot angle, but always believed that the shots worth taking were on the guys, like Lazard, who were productive at the college level but didn't fit into some front offices niche when drafting. Give me a slow safety with ball skills over a quick receiver who hasn't caught 1,000 yards of passes since junior college. While playing with Rodgers can be a challenge, most overlooked WR's show out as soon as they hit the field, like Donald Driver and Stefan Diggs.
Winfree got his snaps last year and showed less than Malik Taylor, who I also don't think has much of a roster shot this year.
Guys mentioned him last training camp. He displayed speed route running, and an ability to catch. Based on his comments, that is the first part. The second part is understanding how those skill sets play into game strategy, play strategy, and connecting with the QB. Hopefully, his time on the sidelines last year taught him the language between QB and receiver. If that’s the case, then Winfree’s time has come. And, that’s why they play the game.
Tyler, I also wouldn't mind a follow-up article on Sammy Watkins... what's been going on since you last interviewed him... (Just Sayin')
I want to be believer, let's go Juwann!

As usual, a great article. However, I followed the link to your story on Sammy Watkins and found that to be fascinating as well.
Just did the same. What a wild ride.
Great read. Let's go Juwann! #GoPackGo
