Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes?
As our Jim Monos writes, this is likely the question still on the mind of the Buffalo Bills' owner. Monos relives the 2017 draft with a close look at two of the very best in the game.
Here is a column from Go Long Show co-host Jim Monos, who served as the Buffalo Bills director of personnel from May 2013 through the 2017 draft… a quite memorable draft that included a quarterback from Texas Tech — Patrick Mahomes — that drew the admiration of Bills owner Terry Pegula.
ICYMI: Here is the two-part series on this topic that Go Long launched with in November 2020.
Jim Monos’ column is below:
“You can get with this or you can get with that” is the main lyric from a 90s hip hop, one-hit wonder song — “The Choice is Yours” — by the group Black Sheep. It is also the song my son and I dance to when we get hyped for a big game or a Bluey episode. This or that is also the phrase that replays in Terry Pegula’s mind when his Buffalo Bills play the Kansas City Chiefs.
You can get with Pat or you can get with Josh.
Sitting with Terry Pegula in the owners’ box can be like sitting with your cool boss when things are good or like getting called into the principal’s office, as Doug Whaley described, when we sat in London with the Pegulas. We were losing to Jacksonville, 27-13, at half. The only way for Terry Pegula to officially not think about Mahomes will be if Buffalo wins a Super Bowl.
