Jim Monos: Say hello to the NFL teams getting hot at the perfect time
Our longtime scout takes the pen again for a rapid-fire recap. Steelers all but put a nail in the Lions' coffin, Jaguars roll on and no team epitomizes Monos' Core 4 quite like the Patriots.
Editor’s Note: This is why it’s such a joy to welcome Jim Monos back to our Go Long World. To chip away at another longer project, I’m able to hand that Monday pen off to our resident scout. Monos, my co-host on “Real Football,” was the northeast scout for the Philadelphia Eagles (2000- ‘04), southeast scout for the New Orleans Saints (2005- ‘13) and director of personnel for the Buffalo Bills (2013- ‘17).
Here are his fresh takes on everything that happened in the NFL this past weekend.
As a reminder, Go Long subscribers can access our podcast each week.

Everything looked fine for the Commanders until Marcus Mariota left the game with an injury. Enter an all-time top back-up: Josh Johnson. Useless info, but I was the Director of Player Personnel for the Bills and we signed Johnson in 2015. When I was the DPP for the San Diego Fleet from the now defunct AAF, we drafted Josh Johnson with the first overall pick. Not much to talk about from this one. Eagles did what they should do against a below-average team with a bunch of backups at QB. Forgot Saquan Barkley was in the NFL this year — good to see him back. For the Eagles to get another title, Barkley will need more games like this (132 yards on 21 carries, TD).

Unacceptable! An onside kick?
