What a fantastic article, Tyler. So much depth and perspective, both from the current point of view, but also, going back to his college career.

In the world that we live in now, it’s easy to get forgotten about if you aren’t ‘straight into the limelight!’

I think it’s really refreshing that JL10 has taken his time, simply through the situation that’s been presented to him. He’s probably out of the league by now, if he’s thrust straight into starting. He wasn’t ready, despite the talent.

The maturation process has helped him grow into what he’s become, which is exciting and a great investment.

I agree, it’s time to unleash him, for a decent sample size, as a starter.

He’ll surprise a lot of people and have a great career IMO.

Watching ESPN and following the National media rhetoric is never beneficial. I really enjoyed the perspective this article provided, in terms of the comments from people close to Love.

Let the new era commence (the sheriff picture at the top of the article typified the situation).

Thanks again for the content and all that goes into its creation.

Cheers

Simon

Huge, huge thank you to everyone for the nice words here.

This should be quite an interesting week. Heading to Indianapolis this evening.

Let's face it, Rodgers doesn't put the work in any more. From the moment he declined OTA's even though he had to get on the same page with an almost completely new WR room tells you everything you need to know about his commitment.

The idea that Rodgers played like garbage against the Lions horrible defense at home in a must win game was a real awakening. Unfortunately, every other GM in the league sees the same thing. Rodgers is fading and fading fast. They'd be lucky to get two premium picks, and if offered one, take it.

Father time is undefeated.

Whether Love is "the next Mahomes" or not, it's time for the Packers to move on. Even if Love is just above average, the Packers will be a play-off team.

Woulda been nice to have a new d-coordinator, though.

Is that a new haircut Mark Davis? :)

You are right he went from the Moe Howard to the Pete Rose!

Exciting to see Love. I think he has taken an unfair amount of shrapnel from the fan base. I also tend to think he could be very good. Not just based on your reporting, but what I see with my own eyes. He makes a lot of nice throws, has some good movement, seems decent in muddy pockets. can use touch or power on throws ... those usually make for good QBs

Reading between the lines with Jeff Darlington's report about the "one condition" for the Packers to welcome him back, namely that he will be required to be "fully bought-in" to LaFleur's offense and that he needs to change the way he plays if he wants to stay. This is basically another way of saying "Sayonara"

I'm not liking what i'm what i'm seeing in reports from Jeff Darlington and Tom Pelissero.

I'd like to see the Packers move on but Rodgers might do everything in his power to prevent Jordan Love from leading them to a better record in 2023 than with him in 2022. He must realize that this is a distinct possibility with all their young talent. What better way to avoid that scenario than to come back and force them to trade a disgruntled Love?

That 2020 QB class could end up being historically good.

I was ambivalent about the Packers bringing AR back last year. Obviously this was a case of holding onto a guy one year too long, but we might have been 2nd guessing if he won an MVP somewhere else while Love struggled.

I'm baffled by people that think AR will play with the Packers next year. The team was just not very good and that window is closed. I'm excited for the JL window.

The king is dead. Long live the king.

I remember being on a virtual happy hour for the draft. A few of my coworkers on the call began teasing me about Rodgers being old. I, having consumed a few adult beverages, boldly proclaimed "just watch, Jordan Love is going to fall to 26 and the Packers will sprint to the podium to take him."

I was met with scoffs but I was pretty much right on.

Great read, Tyler! And thank Bob for his earlier podcast piece. Can't get anything remotely close to this journalism from other Packer sites. Now, tell me, did it look to anybody else this year that Rodgers actually 'threw' some games? I mean very uncharacteristically missing wide open guys, flinging up jump ball throws off his back feet, throwing careless interceptions, pointing fingers at teammates, etc...

In the first Detroit game, it was so bad I was convinced he was throwin the game. Later, with a 2% chance of making the playoffs, Rodgers states don't give up, we still have a chance, stuff. Then he starts playing decent ball, winning a few games looking like another Johnny Unitas, until the final Detroit game, he blows it. Seems to me he was screwing with all of us all along. Playing awful early on, mounting a playoff run, win and we're in, then the finale, at home, to end the season... He stuck it to us!!

I'm ready for the Love train, good or bad, but I'm ready! And I think it's going to be GOOD!

Oy.

Dude.

Pump the breaks just a little.

I agree 100% with everything you write about AR. He's a complete narcissistic d bag. I agree it's time to trade him and start Love.

Absolutely on the same page as you and Bob there.

But come on; no one knows if Love can be good. A college teammate and coach and his trainer?

Oh boy.

Some random comments from a couple players saying nice things?

That's enough to conclude that he's the next GB HOF QB?

I don't think you believe that, actually. You are much smarter than that.

Here's what we've seen:

We've seen a pretty bad performance against KC. Yes, Aikman was harsh, but not without reason.

Sure it was a year ago and the game plan was not helpful, but man, that was deer in the headlights city. Plenty of novice backup qbs have done a lot better their first time out. Brock Purdy, anyone?

We've then some reasonable improvement in the last preseason, but hardly the 2d coming of Johnny Unitas.

And we've seen a nice job in garbage time against Philly.

That's literally all we know.

who cares what he did in college? Tim Tebow rocked in college, as did a zillion other qbs who bombed out in the pros.

No one can conclude that he's going to be really good from this limited showing.

I absolutely hope you are right, but this reminds me too much of the folks last preseason who were talking about our defense as if it would be the second coming of the 85 bearz.

Let's just wait and see.

thanks, as always for your excellent work!

Does no one remember how bad Rodgers was until his third season. I think there is an excellent chance that had he started as a rookie he'd be David Carr. Love certainly has a lot to prove but 12 was nowhere near a sure thing
