Clips: On Matthew Stafford's future and the New York Giants' QB battle plan
Video excerpts from the podcast with Art Stapleton inside, as well as clips from our conversations with Trey Burton & Richie Incognito. Be sure to subscribe to the Go Long TD YouTube channel.
We all saw what Matthew Stafford did at the end of the 2024 season. This isn’t a typical 37-year-old quarterback. There’s no speed off his fastball. He can still make all the throws. The Los Angeles Rams were one Jalen Carter sack shy of reaching the NFC Championship Game.
There’s no question: The first 2025 quarterback domino to fall will be Stafford.
Are the Rams prepared to lose the Super Bowl champ over, what, $10 mill? We’re about to find out. It’s hard to see Les Snead and Sean McVay letting a proven winner in his prime out the door but teams will try to blow away this duo with an offer. Apparently now, Tom Brady is making his Las Vegas Raiders pitch.
These New York Giants are absolutely interested.
Stafford is Plan A.
On the Go Long Podcast, I discussed the Giants’ colossal quarterback decisions at length with longtime beat writer Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com. The full episode is available to Go Long subscribers. Everything is explored:

Art Stapleton on the pursuit of Matthew Stafford…
Could the Rams’ contractual games piss off Stafford to the point of wanting out?
Stapleton believes Shedeur Sanders will be the best fit for the Giants if they go the draft route.
Personalities between Daboll & Sanders may match, too.
Off of Super Bowl LIX, I sat down with Trey Burton of “Philly Special” fame as well. He was a delight.
Here are a few highlights from that episode.
On hiding the trick play from Bill Belichick…
Who’s the real Nick Sirianni?
Guys love Nick Foles.
And, hey, wouldn’t you know. Richie Incognito is back in the news. Two years ago, the rip-snortin’ guard joined a Go Long Happy Hour. It was wild. Here are a few clips uploaded to the channel, icymi.
