The Hall-of-Fame sports writer is sticking with Go Long this 2022 season. Here's what you can expect on all things Green Bay Packers, "McGinn Files" and, of course, his epic draft series.
Couldn't agree more. Bob is the best but with the amount of time on film review I knew this day would come eventually. Whatever Bob is willing to do I'll take!
Tyler - someone else asked also but anyway you can host a podcast of the game review either with a guest, solo or perhaps a zoom where everyone can ask questions and weigh in?
The forced laughter fests, irrelevant stats, and poor preparation of NFL shows make me sick to my stomach. It's refreshing to read Go Long and hear the Podcasst with Bob do the exact opposite. They contain real information without the fluff.
Like everyone else, going to miss the grading the Packers podcasts. Can we get a podcast with the release of the different McGinn files? McGinn's memories last year were a lot of fun.
Bummer that the weekly Bob McGinn breakdown is a thing of the past. I’ve followed Bob from the JS to the Athletic, BobMcGinnFootball.com and here. The podcasts between Tyler and Bob are always great. The end of an era.
well...what can I say....thrilled to be able to read Bob's work...but am a bit devastated that we won't be getting the weekly podcast breaking down the game...I understand that it was a ton of work but the result was THE BEST WEEKLY PODCAST covering the Packers....everything else was a distant second!!!...If there is any way Bob would reconsider(I know he won't), that would be fabulous.....
This seems as good a time as any to share my (very) tenuous connections to Tyler and Bob.
First, when Bob wrote his Super Bowl book he did a signing at a Madison mall...probably West Towne (back in the day when malls were a big deal). I, of course, had been reading Bob for many years...back then newspapers were the only way to get any detailed information about sports. My wife happened to be shopping that day and called to tell me that there was a guy there selling his books, and his name was Bob McGinn. She asked if I wanted one, and after I said 'yes' I told her to hold on; those would make great Christmas gifts. We added it up and came up with six worthy recipients of this epic best-seller (well, in my family it was!). She said Mr. McGinn was very friendly, and a real gentleman. Great read. And thanks Bob!
As for Tyler, in his first year covering the Packers I ran a Fantasy Football league that we called Packers At A Premium. On a lark I asked Tyler to join our league, and to my amazement he said yes! He wasn't a real gentleman about it...he said that he would kick our collective asses. As a many-year veteran (and successful one at that) of fantasy football I doubted that very much. Of course, Mr. Dunne did, in fact, kick our asses. But so what...great times.
I stopped doing FF during the first pandemic year and discovered that I could live without it; haven't been back to it since. Mainly, I enjoy watching games without rooting against certain players being successful. But my interest in the NFL remains strong at 70 years old, and this site is one of my favorites for football information.
Last year's podcasts recapping the games were a primary reason I went out on extra long grocery shopping trips, often dropping my bags down on the seaside and cracking open a cold one to listen. I got the feeling Bob never felt comfortable doing them, but removed from the harness of a maximum amount of words, his content was richer and his voice clearer than ever.
Since he is the country's eminent writer on the draft and because he seems to truly enjoy it, I think we'd all love a reflective analysis of either Packer rookies or league rookies once a month in a podcast. I know Bob has earned the right to write about what he wishes, and we can't get the McGinn draft files anywhere else (talk about going Long). Still I think a lot of Pack fans here want and deserve some analytical content on the Pack. Maybe some of that comes from Monos.
Still grateful to have Bob back in any form. Looking forward to whom he selects for the files: I'd be interested in Bakhtiari, Randy Moss, Jermichael Finley, Eddie Lacy.
As others have noted, sad to see the end of Rating the Packers, but knew the day would eventually come. With respect to many other quality writers on the sport over the years, his research, hard work and analysis has no equal. Also needless to say, Bob has more than earned the right to do whatever he wants, and will be happy with any insight, recollections or draft coverage can get from him.
Bob's game and player breakdowns were the reason I came to this site. I realize he'd retire at some point but my visits checking this site will be far less frequent now.
Bob, I am not a Packers follower. I am a reader of your outstanding book on the Super Bowl. Any chance you do a revised edition as there have been 10 or 11 since it was published and we need your astute analysis for posterity. Full disclosure I am a Patriots fan so somewhat selfish on my part.
Mike: I don't own the rights to The Ultimate Super Bowl Book; a publishing house in Minneapolis does ... the second edition of the book included SB 46 ... that was the end of it ... Thanks, MW.
Bob, thank you for years of outstanding game coverage. I’ll miss your game reviews - their clarity, insight, and attention to detail was simply unmatched. Best wishes on this next step of your career.
I'll really miss Bob's game breakdown and other painstaking analyses, but I'm happy for whatever I can get from him.
My sentiments exactly. Bob and his wife deserve to enjoy new adventures at this point in their life. But whatever he can offer, I will take.

Still Love Go LONG!!...
Dammit, Bob!
Drop the bomb on me, and I'm sure a lot of others.
First Vic, and now you.
Tyler, please cancel my subscription.
Thank You. Nate

Would love to hear Bob’s take on the Packers Season so far this year.
